What’s the best way to build a new business after years of prospecting your friends already with a different business?

I would say I’m kind of an expert of that that. From 2006-2009 I hit my friends and family members with juice, travel, cleaning products, travel, greeting cards, legal services, Aztec grain, ect. There was 12 different companies I was in before becoming a top earner in my last company.

So, how did I reach out to them?

I went in knowing that they had seen me market other things, and I had convinced myself that I was going to take my business to the top.

Most people are constantly trying convince others to believe in them.

They are thinking, “How do I get them to believe in me?”

Really, the question is: How do you get YOU to believe in YOU?

That’s the real question.


Posture is when you have the belief in what you have regardless of external acceptance or approval.

But, you also combine that with the vision of where you’re going.

When I reached out to people (who I’d reach out to before for 7-12 different network marketing companies), I said, “Listen. I’ve been to a lot of these different things, this is the one. If you’re open to it, great. If not, no big deal. I’m going to do it with our without you. I’d love to do it with you but if you’re not open, totally cool.”

What if they were NOT cool?

I said, “Cool, no problem. Hey, I got calls to make. I will catch up with you later, good luck. All right, bye.”

That’s the difference in posture.

I’m not trying to figure out, “How do I get them to see the light?”

You have to be willing to do it with or without them.

“I’d love to do it with you but rest assured, I’m going to do it with or without you.” That’s how I did it after 7-12 network marketing companies and I have faith that you can do it as well in a second one.

Know Where You’re Going

Know where you’re going.

People make fun of me saying, “How long you going to be in this one, Ray?”

I had someone say that to me. I’m like, “Well, that’s something you should say behind my back but okie-doke, talk to you later.” Then I’m off.

I don’t need their acceptance or approval.

Do you think that Edison, Einstein, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, do you think that these guys told their ideas to people and everyone just accepted them? Do you think everyone just agreed with them?

“Wow, thanks man. I really needed that boost of confidence because I was kind of not sure about Microsoft. But, man, thanks so much, thank you.”

Or do you think people said, “You’re an idiot, you should finish your degree.”

Of course they did. Of course they thought his idea was idiotic.

I saw a interview with Jeff Bezos and they were talking about some of his friends who refused to invest in Amazon and said, “Nah, no thanks, man. I don’t think it’s going to work out.” They lost out on hundreds of millions of dollars. Painful topic for some of them.

Not Everyone Is Going To Understand

Not everyone is going to get it. Doesn’t matter how charismatic you are, it doesn’t matter how amazing the opportunity is.

It doesn’t matter how great your product is, doesn’t matter how great the idea is, doesn’t matter how great the service is, doesn’t matter how great the comp plan is, doesn’t matter how great the leadership is.

Doesn’t matter, there are always going to be people that don’t see it. Always.

Don’t worry about it, on to the next one.

You be sure that you’re going to take it to the top and you’re going to make it happen. And, stop requiring buy in from friends and family members, most of them don’t have the lifestyle you wish for anyway.
