Work With The Hungry, Not The Needy
Working with hungry and needy sounds like I am talking about charity, I am not. I am talking about the type of person you want to work with in your network marketing company. Some may read this and think, “Well, Ray, isn’t hungry and needy the same?” They could not be farther apart. I am going to share with you the difference and why you ONLY want to work with the hungry, not the needy.
What Do I Mean As The Needy?
Know anyone that really NEEDS to make money? Perhaps they just lost their job, are constantly broke or have a lot of time on their hands. Here is an unfortunate observation I have made: In Most Cases, Those That NEED An Opportunity The Most, Will Do The Least About It. Now, this is not saying that every person that is in a tough situation is needy and not willing to do anything about it, there is just a difference in the mindset of the person that is needy versus the mindset of the person that is hungry. The needy person typically tells you why something is not going to work every step along the way. The needy are usually very smart at telling you all the reasons something will not work. The needy is constantly in a mindset that everyone is out to get them and the world/universe is against them. It is quite common for the needy to play the victim card and have all the reasons why some outside force is keeping them from their goals. Outside forces include (but are not limited to) spouses, the economy, their parents, their bank account, their former boss, etc. Often the needy feel entitled to other people’s help regardless of return of value from the needy person.

Who Are The Hungry?
The hungry is a rare breed. The hungry is constantly looking for ways to get better, achieve more and accomplish something. The hungry can be driven by very, very different things. Often the hungry are out to prove something to someone, other times they are hungry because they are sick and tired of being sick and tired. The hungry search for ways to take action. They don’t make excuses as they know that does not put food on the table. They have a thirst for more. They want to become more than what they currently are. Needy people can also be hungry, but it is rare as the hungry rarely complain so you would not classify them as needy. Hungry people have usually had their share of bumps along the road because they are not afraid of failing. They know that each failure has a learning lesson contained within.

One statement I make at every one of my meetings is that I like to work with people that have more desires than excuses. Another way of saying this would be that I am looking for those that are hungry, not needy. One thing I have always been my entire life, is hungry. I encourage you to stay hungry and always have an never quit attitude toward your goals and dreams.
