Duration Of The Contest

What is the best duration of a contest?

This is actually scientifically proven. There have been studies on elaborate challenges and contests in relation to prizes. They found, if the challenge or contest is very complicated in nature, the prizes did NOT increase performance.

So, if you’re doing a 90-day blitz, I don’t think that prizes are going to make that much of a difference. Because it’s 90 days.

You might argue “Ray, I’ve done 90-day blitzes and people showed up big time.”

Well, I would argue that the same people that showed big time for a prize for a 90-day blitz, would’ve shown up anyway.

I don’t believe in a 90-day time span, that having prizes really makes a big difference.

Where I do think it makes a difference is in shorter contests.

Running a 7-day contest, a 14-day contest, maybe even a 21-day contest will increase performance. I would say a 21-day contest would be the longest that a prize would have much of an influence over that period.

However, only if you would adhere to this psychology.

Get More People To Participate

The big mistake that most network marketing leaders make is they’ll come up with a contest, then they’ll come with three prizes. First place, second place, third place, and that’s it.

Big mistake. Why?

Your mission as a network marketing leader, should be to get a lot of people to do a little.

If you have a team of 1,000, you want to think “How do I get all 1,000, or 800 of them, or 500 of them, to go and prospect one person?”  VS. “Let me take the five-percenters, who are really focused and hungry, and get them to produce a little bit more.”

It’s smarter for you to think of the whole unit.
