To Develop The Millionaire Mind, Drop These 3 Habits

"the millionaire mind"There’s a whole lot of people out there wishing upon a star that they can become a millionaire. You cannot get there without having the millionaire mind. This blog deals with 3 extremely common things that people do that prevents them from ever having financial abundance.

Bad Habit #1 – No One Wants to Help Me…

“No one helped me, nor did I think at any time that it was anyone’s duty”
– Ayn Rand

“Life is not fair; get used to it.”
– Bill Gates

This may be the most common thing that I hear from people wanting to have success. It is a rationalization. ANYTIME, and I mean, anytime, you blame your lack of success on ANYONE or ANYTHING outside of yourself, you…will…fail. No one wants to help you? Boo-Hoo. Get over it. YOU are responsible for your success, not only will people NOT help you but there will be people that root AGAINST you! Do you think your friends and family want to see you have monumental success? Of course they do not. If you are to succeed, look in the mirror and you will find the one resource you can count on, IF, you learn to develop the millionaire mind.

Bad Habit #2 – You Don’t Know Where I’ve Been…

“By prevailing over all obstacles and distractions, one may unfailingly arrive at his chosen goal or destination. “
– Christopher Columbus

Notice Columbus doesn’t say IF you have obstacles and distractions, he gives you the idea that you WILL have them. Anyone who has any level of success has had to go through hell to get there. It is the tough parts of your life that teach you the most. You learn the least when times are plentiful. The problem is, most people have a series or string of bad things happen to them and they decide that their success was just not meant to be. YOU, not your circumstances, are the ONLY thing that can stop you.

“Sometimes we stare so long at a door that is closing that we see too late the one that is open.”
– Alexander Graham Bell

Having a tough time in this economy? Congratulations, welcome to the majority. The majority of people around you are going through tough times to, it is how you react to them that will dictate where you end up. IF you concentrate on telling everyone your story of woe, you will NEVER rise above your circumstances. Stop telling your story of how bad things are, I can bet you that the people around you are sick of hearing about it anyway.

Bad Habit #3 – They Don’t Deserve It…

“Some people find fault like there is a reward for it.”
– Zig Ziglar

Have you ever been talking to a friend or family member and you share that you admire someone and they quickly say, “yeah, but” and they choose to point out the faults of the person you are admiring? Happens all the time doesn’t it? Most people are so insecure that someone might be ACTUALLY DESERVING of success that instead of being happy for someone, they choose to explain why that person got to where they are or how they gave up some great morality for their success.

Keep this in mind, someone else’s faults has NOTHING TO DO WITH your success. AND, if you choose to keep separating and pointing out the faults in those who have the lifestyle, money or relationship that you desire, you are telling yourself that you do not want what they have and you will never get it. Developing the Millionaire mind means creating a world inside yourself that welcomes abundance. An internal world that pushes you toward your dreams not ridicules those that already have your dream. Be very careful of this bad habit. If you continue to separate yourself from those in abundance, well, you will simply never get to ANY level of abundance.

Thanx Ray!!! That was the best training I had all week!!! Although David Wood is doing a five part mlm video training this week that’s been great as well… I told him yesterday how I admired him as I was on betternetworker yesterday and all these so-called gurus who have all the answers, but when you look at their profile they don’t list a company and no longer in mlm and you just gotta go, what the hell, if you’re so brilliant, and mlm is so great why aren’t you still in it?? ticks me off, like how stupid do you think I am… that’s why I admire you and Dave, you’re still in the trenches building mlm and giving great advice as well…

Spot on, Ray, as usual. There are different kinds of help to offer people. The assumption they are a leader is the best help you can give someone!

Thanks Ray. Your post validates my thoughts. I got hit hard by the real estate and mortgage collapse and as such I’ve had to change my mindset. However, I was hit more mentally than financially. I used to find fault in everything until one day something just clicked and a change happened; no more feeling sorry for myself. It’s time to move ahead. Numis is that opportunity I intend on rebuilding my life with. See you at the top someday!

  13. Michael Stead says

    September 2, 2010 at 9:45 pm

    Hey Ray,

This is a powerful post my friend…

I think the biggest one that you touched on is the habit of “no one wants to help me”.

I used to have this mindset as I was stuck in the mindset of a victim and I thought that the world was simply out to get me. Once I really started to study and really study successful people, I realized very quickly that virtually all of them had built teams around them to help them out.

I think this is why having mentors and coaches is so important because they enable you to collapse time frames by putting you on a track that they have already tested and tried out to see what works the best.

Keep up the good work man! This is some awesome content šŸ˜‰

    See you at the top,
    Michael Stead

    Ray:

You’re so right. At a recent event that I attended in Baltimore MD with Jeffry Combs, Jerry Clark, Che Brown and the man himself Cedrick Harris they talked about this very concept. To be a millionaire you have to act like one even tho you might be broke. Need to replace negative words and thoughts with positive ones. Not “I’ll try” but “I am”. I am a millionaire, I am free of debt, I am a great leader, I am helping others to achieve their dreams. I am a millionaire whose monies have not yet been deposited into my checking account.

Someone once taught me when dining out with family and friends, tip the wait staff as if you were a millionaire. Not that you were better than anyone else but it is the mindset. Exactly what you talk about in your video.

Great job. Appreciate all the wisdom that you are sharing with us.

Hey Ray, appreciate the insight you bring on not separating ourselves with any other person and where they are at in life. We, as human beings, tend to judge our worst to someone else’s best and will always fall short. As you stated so eloquently, act as if we are already that level of success and it will come into fruition.

    Hey Ray:

Great post and great video. You are so dead on when you say, “No one is surprised by success.”! There is a lot of work, a paln , and a thought process behind it. So many people forget that the person they hear or see is successful, actually failed about a 100 times. It is just failing forward for the person with the Millionnairre Mind Set or attitude…

I do believe that your Blog has some of the best content. Thanks for continuing to share.

I’ll see you at the top!

    Ray,

Thank you so much for this message about having the right mind set, and to make sure we don’t treat people differently despite their social status. This has been one of the bigger obstacles for me growing up coming from a blue collar environment and having that sort of mindset.

Also, thanks so much for your words of wisdom in your emails to me.

We may not have these habits ourselves but all to often we are held hostage by others who do have one or more of them and don’t even realize how draining it can be.

    Thanks for the inspiration Ray.

  39. Veronica says

    September 3, 2010 at 6:41 am

Great video on mindset, Ray! It’s very easy to feel intimidated by your mentors & leaders because you’re not there yet. And you’re right, we shouldn’t separate ourselves like that and put ourselves in a lesser position because all of our mentors & leaders were once where we are now. We should have the mindset of “if they can do it, so can I” so long as I learn from and duplicate their efforts.

Thanks for the great post. The mind is the most powerful element in our lives, it can work for us or against us. We must remind ourselves daily that we already are who we wish to become. We just need to take the necessary action to bring about the reality.

hey, ray, you rock, as usual! loving the synchronicity here…was JUST talking minutes before seeing this article to a team member about being unstoppable and not blaming circumstances, people’s jerky behavior, etc. for not meeting goals–claiming your power by remaining laser-focused on what you want and WHO you are as a cause in your own success, as that will carry you through whatever is thrown your way (as many things will be!)…thanks, as usual, for being spot-on and delivering above and beyond! will mos def be sharing this!

Thanks for this, Ray. I have never thought of it that way…to NOT separate or differentiate between myself and others in terms of money and success. I already know how to diminish my perception of separation in terms of other life stuff, and your simple idea helps me see I could apply what I already know to my ideas about money and success. Thanks again!!

    Ray-
Another fantastic post. And you are absolutely right on the money when you say that “one day you make the decision to be who you want to be.” It is only when you reach THAT point that you understand the direction you are going and the steps that you have to take. It is only after the hard work of those DIRECTED steps that success comes.
I love your content. It doesn’t matter how far along we are on our journey, we need to be constantly reminded of these truths. Keep up the great work.

Good points Ray. These are not only bad habits they’re negative thoughts, those thoughts are the things that hold us down.

How you think is how you’ll act. There’s a lot of truth to the book ‘Think and grow rich’, but it’s not just about being rich, how you think has a rippling effect in everything you do and have in life.

A good question to ask ourselves is why is it easier to focus on negativity when thinking positively and changing our attitude to focus on the positive makes things so much more rewarding?
