New to MLM and nervous?

Here’s how to overcome the newbie jitters and crush it in your network marketing business.

How To Overcome Nervousness

How do you get past the newbie jitters?

1. Don’t Overthink It

The most common trait of a network marketer is to over think things.

This is like when you were a little kid, and you went to your parents and said, “I’m a little nervous to ride the bicycle.” What did they say?

Did they say:

“You should probably read a few books on that.”

“You should probably go see a therapist.”

“Meditate on it. You should meditate. See yourself riding the bicycle.”

Or, did they say:

“Get on the bike and I’m going to push you down a hill and you’re going to fall down.”

That’s how they did it. We tend to overthink everything.

2. Be Willing To Be Imperfect

I guarantee that you could read 52 different books on sales, persuasion, psychology, and influence. You could memorize them. But, you’re still going to not come across awesome in your first 20 to 30 conversations. It just isn’t going to happen.

My suggest to you is to go out there and be willing to not be perfect at it.

This is something I learned from Brendon Burchard. Brendon Burchard says, “The version 1.0 is infinitely better than 0.0.”

[clickToTweet tweet=”The version 1.0 is infinitely better than 0.0 – @BrendonBurchard” quote=”The version 1.0 is infinitely better than 0.0 – Brendon Burchard”]

Let me tell you, if people didn’t go out there and mess up at first, they never would have gotten good. You have to be willing to not be perfect.

The cool thing about not being perfect is… it’s perfect.

Why?

If you’re trying to sell a car, a house, a retirement package, you need to get good at selling that thing, right?

In network marketing, you’re not selling your product. You’re not selling your fast-start kit. You’re not selling your compensation plan.

You know what you’re selling?

You’re selling the idea that they can do what you are doing.

Duplication In Network Marketing

The more perfect you are, the less likely they will feel they can duplicate you.

In my first network marketing company, I brought in a guy that brought in a speaker. Professional speaker. This speaker, no joke, he was making a million dollars a year. That kind of goes to show you that, sometimes, you can get people that are making a lot of money into your team. I saw it over and over and over.

We brought in doctors, lawyers, business owners, restaurant owners, franchise owners, speakers, and authors. We brought in all kinds of different people from all walks of life. Mechanics, truck drivers, substitute teachers, music teachers, kindergarten teachers.

So we bring in this guy, million dollar a year speaker and he’s dressed in the nines. I do this home meeting. He introduces me, and he’s like, “Hello. I want to thank you for coming here today. Today is a day of opportunity. Today the opportunity…”

He launches into this professional and persuasive talk.

What’s funny about it is everyone looked at him like, “Wow. You really impress me, dude. But I could never do what you do.”

So, imperfection is perfect.

Imperfection is perfect.

The less polished you are, the more likely they’ll say, “If you’re doing this, I might be able to do this too.”
