Marketing advice is something I’m often asked about, and there’s really one main piece of advice I would give.
If you want to crush it, this will help.
My #1 Piece of Marketing Advice
My answer to this question, that I often get, is one that nobody wants to hear.
But here it is…
There’s a great interview with Steve Martin, and it’s one of my favorite quotes of all time.
He said every time he goes to a cocktail party, every time he goes to a reception or something like that, these budding actors or actresses will come up to him and be like, “Dude, Steve, bro, man you’re amazing. You’re legend man. What’s one secret man? What’s one thing that, what one piece of advice would you give me?”
And he tells them all the same thing. He says, “Be so good they can’t ignore you.”
And by the way, I’ve read all kinds of stories like this.
Harrison Ford was trying to be an actor for 27 years before he got a lead role.
27 years. Why? Why do people like us deserve a faster shot at it? We don’t. So staying consistent is what will get you there.
Showing up consistently because people are looking for that magic marketing bullet. And here’s the deal, I don’t know how to dictate this video will go viral. Like I don’t know, I have no idea.
Right? Things just go viral. I’ve had two, two videos of mine that went viral. I had two videos that got organically over 50,000 views in the first day. And that’s two. I’ve been doing videos for 10 years every day.
And so you’re going to have some of your marketing suck. It’s going to suck. You’re going to have some videos that just suck and you’re going to have to push through.
But once you do push through and keep going, that’s when change happens and when impact starts building.
