Should someone just starting out use all social media platforms? Or should someone new start with just one platform?

This is a question I get asked frequently, and I think it’s much better for you to just get good on one social media platform, and grow your audience there.

There are plenty of people on any platform that you choose, so just choose one you like and get good at it.

Some of you like Instagram better than Facebook, go for it. Some of you like Facebook more than Instagram.

SnapChat? That works too.

Any of these platforms have plenty of people on them to absorb your content, so just get good at one.

Something I see frequently is people trying to be good at all platforms and use all of them.

Sort of like me and LinkedIn – I don’t engage with anyone on LinkedIn and I don’t publish videos on there, but I still just post and utilize the platform.

For me, Facebook and Instagram are where I thrive and spend most of my time.

So pick one platform and focus on it. Get good at that one platform.

After you get good at one platform, you may want to expand and do something else. At that point, go for it. But first, master one platform before diving into another.
