increase performance

It’s easy to get caught up in ways to increase performance, but it’s mainly important to stay in your own lane and focus solely on your activity.

Today I’m sharing a mantra I’ve been following for the last 10 years that has helped me get to where I am today.

How To Be More Addicted To Your Activity Than Their Response

When it comes to getting people to notice your business’ message, a mantra that I operate by, to this day, and I have for the last 10 years, and that is:

“I am more addicted to my activity than their response.”

Now that stands true for prospects. I’m more addicted to me reaching out to them than them ever responding.

Prospects

I actually don’t care whether they respond or not, truly. I know that sounds weird but I’m addicted to my activity not their response.

So someone responds, doesn’t respond. It’s not a big deal. It doesn’t mean I don’t care about them and I’m just this callous guy. I’m just more focused on my goals than them.

I’m not affected whether prospects react or respond or not, and same thing with teammates. And, I’m going to show up and do the very best job I possibly can within my team, and how they take action is not something that affects me.

Teammates

And I heard a quote long time ago, I don’t know who originally came up with this, but I heard a quote that said, “I can show you how to be successful. I can’t show you how to want to be successful.”

Now you can play in the little fake sandbox and say, “Well, you just have to paint a vision for your teammates and this and that.” But they really have to want it. So don’t be frustrated with the people that don’t do the work.

Just focus on continuing to bring people into the organization to increase the chances that we find the people that want to actually run.

But I will say, and this is key – I’m not going to make anyone feel wrong for not wanting to run. I’m not going to make anyone wrong for not having high levels of desire. I’m not going to make anyone wrong for not wanting to crush it or help us pursue the vision. Instead just spend time doing what you do best and staying in your own lane of focus.

So that’s what I do be addicted to my activity, not their reaction, not their response. And find people who want what you guys do, and you will do just fine.
