The Problem With Being Negative
Some people simply look for what isn’t perfect or what is wrong with every situation. Maybe they make a sale but they beat themselves up because they didn’t do something right or forgot to sell an additional item. Maybe they won something but that prize they won wasn’t exactly what they had hoped for. Maybe they do a great job at something and instead of reflecting how well it went, they focus on all the things that were wrong with it.
The problem with the above kind of thinking is you are sending a mixed message to the energy around you. IF you find the negative in should-be positive scenarios, your subconscious starts to associate pain and negativity with what is actually a positive event. When that happens your ego and subconscious go to work to prevent such pain in the future.
Here’s how simple the subconscious mind works…
If you recruit someone then focus on the fact that they are not duplicating, and you are negative about it, your subconscious only translates that as recruiting someone equals pain so your subconscious will start to sabotage you in ways of thinking and even taking action to prevent that pain from happening again.
If you win a contest or earn a prize just to locate and pick apart all the things that were wrong with that reward, your subconscious translates that as winning things equals pain so it will sabotage you from ever winning.
The Importance of Gratitude
The importance of gratitude is you are going to attract more things to be grateful for. Exactly like criticism, cynicism or thinking negatively will. Maybe your Mom or Dad used to say “Stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about”, that actually is energetically true. 🙂
Being grateful is NOT saying things like…
“I’m not complaining but…”
“I am grateful but…”
Being grateful is being grateful, period, with no “buts”, “if’s”, “the only thing is”, etc. Once you understand the importance of gratitude and what it means to your life you will celebrate every single ounce of the good things that happen and hunt for the good in the bad things that happen.
There are a lot of supposed upbeat people that are actually constantly negative. IF you find yourself going to the negative OFTEN (which is sometimes VERY hard to self-diagnose), here are some tips to help you embrace the importance of gratitude.
1. Every single day, do a gratitude list about all the things that are important in your life. Maybe it’s 20 things you love and have gratitude about your spouse or significant other.
2. Watch “It’s a wonderful life”, that always makes me appreciate things more.
3. Smile like a crazy person when no one is looking and start randomly thanking out loud for the things around you. Right now I thank my desk for being awesome, my chair for supporting me and my keyboard that allows me to type this.
