Today we are going to talk about how to market your business on Facebook for free.
First I’m going to cover the number one and best way to market your business on Facebook for free. Next I’m going to share with you two other places that you absolutely should be marketing which are also free. Lastly, I’m going to give you a couple of free resources so you can build your business affordably.
What’s the best free way to market your business on Facebook right now?
There’s no question and zero challengers, it is Facebook reels. Facebook reels is the newer piece of Facebook that are short videos. These are short videos like Instagram reels or TikTok but these are typically 20, 30 maybe up to 60 seconds long.
Putting up a video in a vertical format to get people reaching out to you, to get people engaging with you and possibly following you. This is definitely a great time for marketing. If you are looking to make more videos and make more sales, this is such a powerful way to do it. We love Facebook reels. Of all the different platforms right now, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn..et cetera, we found the most traction on Facebook reels. We have videos now that have over a million views. We even have one student with over 10 million views. If you are serious about marketing your business and you want to do it for free, Facebook reels is the key.
Now the question would be, “what kind of reels do I do?” We have done a lot of tests over the last couple years on what reels or short videos work best. Now Facebook reels has not been out for two years but TikTok has, which is what they are modeling it after, and Instagram reels has been out for about a year now. What is working really well with them are what we call “ask me how” videos.
There’s two types of “ask me how” videos. There’s the overcomer, “ask me how” where it’s a video of you sharing some of the things that you overcame. Maybe you overcame a tough relationship or a tough childhood or a learning disability or a weight challenge, anything.
For me there’s a lot of things that I have overcome (probably just like you) but I overcame growing up in a very abusive home, I didn’t finish high school on time, I never finished college, I went through a divorce, I was in foreclosure, I was dead broke twice, I was over a million dollars in debt when the real estate market crashed. So there’s a lot of things that I have overcome. Doing these little Facebook reels where I share some of the things that I have overcome and then I end with, “ask me how.”
How did I go from barely surviving to thriving? “Ask me how.” I get all kinds of comments of “how,” “tell me more,” “where do I learn more.” When you do it in this manner, one of your challenges is going to be keeping up with the comments and you do. What I have noticed is when I start replying to comments, the views increase and so that’s a really key thing for you to understand. The more you engage, the more views you are going to get which is going to lead to more engagement.
Now the other type of “ask me how” is where you are highlighting a benefit of whatever it is that you are selling. If you are selling a weight loss product, maybe it’s you holding up an old pair of pants that are really really big or something and you are saying “this was before” and after, “ask me how.” Maybe it’s something around energy. Maybe you show yourself really lethargic and tired and just barely there and then the next scene you are ready to go and rocking and rolling. “Ask me how.” People that are looking for more energy will ask you how, they will actually comment on your stuff. I would absolutely be following this format, doing the Facebook reels and rocking it out.
What are the two other places you should be marketing that are also free?
If you are going to do Facebook reels then I absolutely would suggest you post them to two other places at least. Instagram as an Instagram reel and TikTok. Now I found that a lot of people maybe have biases against TikTok, maybe they think that it’s only for young kids. Well, as of about six or eight months ago, there were over 70 million people over age 50 on TikTok. The oldest user on TikTok is 110 years old out of Wales. I’m telling you right now, the “they are all young people” is no longer the case when it comes to TikTok. I’m not sure when it was the case but it definitely has not been the case for at least the last year, year and a half. Do not let that slow you down but if you’re going to do a Facebook reel, why not roll the dice and put it on Instagram reels and on TikTok. Why not?
Here’s what we found. We found that a video may do really well on Facebook reels but not well on other platforms. We have had videos on Facebook reels that did not do well but blew up on TikTok. I have a video on TikTok right now that just did not do well on Facebook reels for some reason but it got 286,000 views on TikTok. You just don’t know. This is kind of like being at the casino. You are at the craps table and you have an unlimited number of rolls and you could win but it’s not costing you every time you roll, that’s the place, then how many times are going to roll? Probably, hopefully as many times as possible. Be consistent with these things. I would definitely if you are going to do a video on Facebook reels, upload it to Instagram reels even if you do not have an account there, start an account, throw it over there, you just don’t know what could happen.
