One of the biggest factors for if you will create a successful business is how you use your time. Today I share how to get more results with better time management.
If you have ever felt like you aren’t using your free time in the best way, this should help you.
Heads Up – Monday Night
Monday night we are doing a brand new training on Cold market prospecting, recruiting and follow up, this is going to be epic, you can click here to register.
Better Time Management is your ONLY Hope…
IF you don’t improve the way you manage your time, the chances of you succeeding in really anything is going to be unlikely. Today I took one of my periscopes from last week and am sharing it on here. To see these kind of trainings live, you can follow me on Periscope. I don’t upload all of them on here so for some if may be the only way to catch them. We also do Free Coaching Friday each week where you get to ask me questions.
NOTE: This text is from my Periscope, there very well could be grammar errors =)
I’m very, very good at time management. Many of you, I’m willing to bet that maybe you work a full-time job and you really want to actually go full time with your business or maybe you are a network marketer. Maybe you have your own small business, maybe you’re an online marketer, affiliate marketer, and you really want to crack the code to going full time.
I’m going to give you 2 sayings.
“Your time management will dictate the velocity of your success.” (Click Here to Tweet)
Now, velocity is kind of how quickly, from start to getting going. Like, for example, the velocity of the Tesla, pretty fast. It’s a fast car. I think this does zero to 60 in 3.2 seconds, something like that. I think they now have one that does even faster. That’s good velocity, right? Your time management, not your availability of time, will dictate the velocity of your success.
Here’s my second quote.
“If you can’t build your business part time, you also can’t build it full time.” (Click Here to Tweet)
Now what does that mean? I see every day, every day, I get an email from someone that has 4 kids, 2 full-time jobs, and they feel they don’t have enough time to build their business and, if only they had more time, then they could build it. The same day, I’ll get an email from someone who’s working 80-90 hours a week, who’s a single mother, who also has 4 kids that recruits 2 people a week.
What’s the difference? One simply has better Time management. They probably have roughly the same availability of time but just better time management. If you can’t build your business part time, having more time is probably, I’m not saying every scenario, but it’s probably not actually going to help you because however you are spending your time part time that is typically only going to magnify.
If you have 4 hours a week to build your business and you spend all 4 hours of that solely reading books, going through courses, studying and you don’t do any profit-producing activities, you don’t create any content, you don’t shoot any videos, you don’t prospect anybody, then what you will most likely carry over if you do go full time is you’re going to carry over that same habit and, now, instead of studying and staying in the library for 4 hours, you’re going to stay in the library for 40 hours?
Now, keep in mind this is coming from a trainer. Look, I’m a trainer. I want everyone to buy courses. I want everyone to attend my events and buy our coaching and all that stuff, but I wouldn’t be a very good trainer if I said, “Spend all of your time studying.” You have to spend time doing profit-producing activities. This carries over, and so I want you to just think a little bit outside the box.
I’ll tell you, 1 day, I was sitting at Sport Clips. I used to go to Sport Clips to get my hair cut. I’m sitting there in the little lobby area. I’m sitting there. I’m looking at my watch. It’s been 20 minutes. I’m impatient. I hate waiting. I mean, honestly, I would rather go in there and say, “Hey, I’ll pay you 3 times the amount for the haircut. Just get me in.” That’s what I would rather do because time is so precious. I’m so protective of my time and my client’s time.
I’m sitting in there. I’m looking at my watch. It’s 20 minutes. I’m like, geez, and so I said, “Screw it,” and I text my wife. I’m like, “Babe, who do we know that can cut hair, and let’s pay them nicely to come to our house and just cut my hair because I hate this.” That was about maybe 6 months ago. I have yet to go to a barber ever again because we hired someone.
I just got my hair cut at my house. I think it took 17 minutes. I walked from my laptop to my kitchen. 17 minutes later, I’m done. I knocked it out. I didn’t have to get in my car. I didn’t have to wait in line. I didn’t have to deal with parking. I didn’t have to deal with all that crap. You may see that as, “Well, Ray, that’s not a big deal.” It adds up. If I’m getting my hair cut twice a month, maybe that’s an hour, hour and a half that I’m wasting per month.
I’ll give you another example. Some of you are big car lovers. Right? I’ve never actually been a car lover. I love this car. I love the Tesla. It’s amazing. It’s the only car I’ve ever had that I really love. I’ve had a BMW 7 Series. I’ve had decent cars. I haven’t had a Lambo. I haven’t had a Ferrari or anything like that. Maybe I need to experience those or a Bentley, but I’ve never been a big car lover. Some of you are. I don’t get enjoyment out of cleaning my car. None. Zero. It’s a chore to me. Okay? It’s like mowing my yard. I don’t mow my yard. I don’t get enjoyment out of that.
I remember I was at a car detailing shop. How long does that take? I mean it takes like an hour, something like that. I’m looking at my watch. I’m like, “This takes forever.” I’m just thinking, “Man, I wish I could just have someone come to my house.” The next week, my friend, Julie, she’s like, “Hey, if you ever want someone to come to your house and detail your cars, my boyfriend, Edson, does it.”
Big shout to Edson Espinosa. He does a great job in Southwest Florida with mobile car detailing.
Ever since then, we have Edson come over. I think it’s about the same cost, except it cost me zero time. He does it in our driveway while I sit inside. Today, we got both vehicles taken care of. We pay him like a hundred bucks. That’s less than what I was paying at a place that didn’t do as good a job and I had to drive to and wait.
You have to think about things like this. You have to look at where can you cut your time. Some of you may say, “Oh, man, what a prima donna.” Okay, let me be very clear. You only have so much time. I probably happen to have more time than most because we have a profitable business. We have different income streams that roll in whether we work or not, and so I probably have more time than others.
The reason I have more time than others is because I have always thought about my time as precious. See, some people don’t. Some people, they don’t look at their time as precious. “Oh, you want me to come and waste a whole bunch of time and go to this thing?” “Sure. Why not?” No. I’m very selective about my time. It allows me to do the things that are needed for my business so that I can have even more time.
“If you don’t have a lot of time, then you desperately need residual income.” (Click Here to Tweet)
Let me say that again. If you don’t have a lot of time in your time, if you are very busy, then you desperately need residual income. Desperately. I’ll tell you, sometimes, I’m prospecting or I’ll talk to a friend, I’ll talk to a professional, I’ll talk to a realtor, I’ll talk to a business owner, I’ll talk to somebody, and I’ll say, “Hey, you might want to consider creating some residual income. I’d be happy to show you how.”
Do you know what their answer is to me? It boggles the mind. It’s the stupidest answer. It’s the lowest-IQ answer you could possibly say when someone asks you about residual income. They say to me, “I don’t have time.” Think about that. That’s a non-understanding of why and who should make residual income. It’s a non-understanding, and so I reply to them, I say, “Ooh, man, you need it more than I thought,” and they’re like, “What do you mean?” I reply, “Well, the reason I got into this was because I had no time. Don’t you understand that?”
The reason you’re saying why you don’t want to do it is the reason I did it. I didn’t have time either. I was sick and tired of not having time. I was sick and tired of living a life that I was enduring rather than enjoying. The exact reason you’re using that makes you think not to do is the exact reason why I did it, because I was sick of working all the time. I was sick of punching the clock. I was sick of asking for permission to take my kid to the dentist. I was sick of being called in and missing my kid’s soccer game.
The reason I did this was because I didn’t have time. Hardly anyone builds a business because they have plenty of time. You know what, I’m not doing anything, why not build build a business? Why not? That’s not the reason you build residual income. If you have time freedom, then your pain isn’t there. So what if you build time freedom if you already have a lot of time? See? You have to learn to think a little differently about time. Your time is very, very precious.
My Periscope Video on Time Management
Heads Up: When I am driving in my car and doing a Periscope, I am looking at the road, not the screen. IF you are able to drive while speaking you can do what I am doing. If you are unable to drive while speaking I suggest you no longer get behind the wheel.
Was that helpful? There are few things that are more important to learn than time management. IF you got value from this feel free to share and comment below and share with your teammates.
