What’s Truly the Easiest Homebased Business To Build?

"homebased business"Here is what I see going on RIGHT NOW. Opportunity seekers research to find a good company. Then they search for a good leader to sign up with. They are convinced it is the best homebased business they have ever come across. Work it a few weeks doing it their own way instead of listening to the leader, get frustrated and then look for an easier network marketing business opportunity to work. So, what is the easiest homebased business to build?

Terrible Question

First of all, I think that is a terrible question. When you were little and someone asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up, did you conjure up what you thought was the easiest job out there and reply with that option? NO. You had dreams, you had plans, and you wanted to do what you wanted to do. So what the hell happened?

“People continuously avoid success by constantly looking for “what’s easier”. You can “what’s easy” yourself to the poorhouse. Determine what you want and be willing to do whatever the hell it takes to accomplish it” – Ray Higdon

For Opportunity Seekers, “What’s Easy” is a Bad Downward Spiral

"opportunity seekers"I have seen this firsthand. For people to generate a serious income in a homebased business, you have to have customers and representatives spending money. That does make sense, doesn’t it? Without people spending money on your products, income cannot be generated. I see people everyday get into a good homebased business that costs anywhere from $500-$1,000 to get started, try it for a couple weeks or months, decide it is too hard (rather than trying to get better) and go to a network marketing business opportunity that is half or even less the price. Then, they try to get people that signed up in the old company (usually with someone else) to sign up into this new homebased business by bashing their old company due to it’s higher price. Think about it. Aren’t the only people you are going to attract going to be slackers and people who quit that same old company? Is that the type of community you want to create in a homebased business?

Then They Typically Go to What’s Even Easier!

After failing at the higher priced network marketing business opportunity by giving up rather than getting better…wait, that reminds me of a Jim Rohn Quote…

“Don’t wish for things to be easier, wish for you to be better” – Jim Rohn

Our troubled opportunity seekers look for what’s even easier! I know, a network marketing business opportunity that is TOTALLY FREE to join would be perfect! Surely they can build that! And now, at this exact point, they have fallen into the annoying, jumping, stereotypical network marketer. They have crushed their warm market with 3 different companies in under 5 months. They have based one company to try to build another, then, based both of them to try to build the free option, which, barely pays anything because no one is spending money and they decide that they just don’t have what it takes to build a homebased business. And, they quit.

Why Did They Even Get Into That First Network Marketing Business Opportunity?

People want to build a homebased business if they are worried about their income or job and want to have additional money coming in or maybe they want to completely change their lifestyle. They get re-connected with that kid inside them that says they can be whoever or whatever they want, but, a lot let society, friends, family and people they don’t even know take away their power as they give in to the people that tell them they are stupid or cannot do it. They they go down the easy path which is the the fast track to failing in a network marketing business opportunity.

So, what SHOULD you do?

Never lose sight of your dreams. Know that anything worth achieving is typically not easy and you will have to roll your sleeves up and go to work. Work on getting better every single day and let others telling you it cannot be done fuel you to prove them wrong. If you don’t believe in you, why the hell should anyone else? This quote sums it up nicely…

“Everything you want…is just outside your comfort zone” - Jack Canfield

Great post, Ray. Seems to be a common theme these days. Your Jim Rohn quote is one of my all time favorites.

I think we all have made mistakes (myself included), but hopefully there is a maturation process that helps us recognize that most of our success comes from ourselves. It’s not outside of us…not our opportunity, our upline, or anything else. It’s US.

Certainly, its important to select a good opportunity and a good team. But if anything is going to happen, it’s going to take some WORK.

“If it’s going to be, it’s up to me.”

Great reality-check post. Most network marketers aren’t looking to get better in this industry. Instead they looking for the easy way to getting rich which is a lottery mentality. If you want to be successful in this industry you have to listen to those that are already successful and have been in your shoes, and also you have to put some work in and not worry about the next company. Thanks for the post!!!

  6. Michael Stead Says:

    Hey Ray,

So true my friend! I think the biggest thing that people have to come up with is their reason “why”. Until people come up with their reason for wanting to become financially independent (for example) they will constantly look for an easier how to because their focus isn’t strong enough on their actual goal.

I used to be VERY guilty for this as I would constantly buy new information products as I thought that if I just had one more golden nugget then that would make all the difference in the world. The biggest thing I realized was that I was merely just lacking focus and a real reason. Once I discovered this, everything began to change VERY quickly and I started to attract many new gems and excited experiences into my life.

It’s amazing how quickly your life can change once you decide what you want, what you’re willing to give up for it, and when you get yourself into massive action.

Great post my friend! Keep up the good work :)

    See you at the top,
    Michael Stead

  8. Tim Langen Says:

    Hi Ray,

Right on as usual. Many people just don’t want to work as hard at building their own business as they work for someone else at their regular job and this dooms them to a life of working as an employee.

At a regular job we have to do what they tell us if we expect to keep that job. When we first start a new job we generally have to step outside our comfort level to learn a new skill to keep that job.

With a home business people need to step outside their comfort level and do what the top earners are doing to succeed. No easy way around that! The only real difference is that you only have yourself to answer to. Hold yourself to the same standard your boss holds you to at your normal job.

    Ray,

Again you’ve pulled no punches. For those that are serious, it’s just the facts. It’s not sugar coated. If people can’t handle the plain truth, then maybe they aren’t cut out for the long haul. People should be more upfront as you’ve been in this article. Then the “wennies” get weeded out.

  15. Karen Says:

    Hey Ray,

I couldn’t agree with you more. Actually I was just thinking about how hard I am studying to learn internet marketing.

If someone decided they were going to make a career change and go back to school, wouldn’t you agree they would study and do whatever it took to graduate in 4 years and then get a job? In other words, they would work their a** off to make it work.

Well, that’s how I look at network marketing and learning internet marketing. I study hard and know that eventually I will get it and I don’t care if it takes a few years, just like if I was changing my profession. That’s what it takes and one should put the same kind of mindset and effort into changing careers to becoming an entrepreneur.

I love it when people say “I’ll try it.” You might as well forget it because you’re defeated before you even begin.

Thanks for another awesome post, Ray!

    In gratitude,

    Karen

    Great stuff Ray!

I was just thinking today, and getting annoyed by people spamming my email with stuff that might be great but who would know because I am numbed by all the “click here now!” and “easier than sitting on your a**!” It becomes a joke!
Last I checked 0 X “anything” = zero, nothing, zilch. A free opportunity is not an opportunity to make money from what I have seen and you can’t make money sitting around on Facebook, sniping peoples email addresses or using a an “ebot” to make a residual income.

It has alway taken work, dedication and commitment to build any kind of business, especially one that pays you month after month in residuals.

    Thanks for letting me rant!
