How do You Achieve Your Goals?

There are a couple steps you need to do to reach your goals, some you have heard and I am willing to bet there are some you have not heard.

Step 1: Determine what you want

Step 2: Write it down in as much detail as you can

Step 3: Create a vision of who you want to be when you accomplish that goal. In the audio I talk about the new version of you that you want to grow into.

Step 4: You ready for this? This is the step you may not have ever heard and that one that in my opinion is one of the most important when it comes to you reaching your goals. Here it is: Identify the excuses you have used that you believe have prevented you from reaching your goals in the past!

Reach Your Goals and Stop the Excuses

OK, lemme help you out. If you use ANY excuses right now, there is a good chance you will never reach your goals, here are some non-serving examples that are wastes of time for you to say or use:

- I’m not smart enough
- My upline is no good
- I am confused
- I am dead broke
- I don’t know what to do

Those are just some of the examples that I hear all the time from people that are NOT reaching their goals. Know this: There will be someone that is NOT as smart as you, in worse health than you, and have less money than you, create more abundance and success than you. There are no valid excuses. Stop using them, they don’t serve you and the world, your spouse, your family, your friends are all tired of hearing them. You don’t have to keep yourself down anymore, we want you to reach your goals!

  5. Hey Ray, I follow all of your steps except #4… have not thought about that one, but it makes perfect sense. There is always at least 1 excuse (usually more) that we are using that keeps us stuck.

    Appreciate you, my friend.

  12. Another great post. Excuses are Poison. If your drive, dream, vision is big enough you’ll be aware of your personal excuses and find a way over, around or through them!
The question I constantly ask myself is so simple – are there other people, probably not as smart as me, achieving the same (or more!) success than I am? If so – WHY? What are they doing different than me!
That helps drive me to seeking an ANSWER, not just wallowing in self-pity.

    Hi Jon,

That is a great question to ask. Thank you for sharing. I use similar tactics to help my team. For someone who mentioned that they have young kids, I would ask them this: Have other mums with young kids achieved what you want to achieve?

The truth is, we all have priorities. When the goal IS on top of the priority list, nothing will be in the way.

    Thanks, Jon, for your insight!

  14. Number 4 is what stops steps 1,2, and 3. Our excuses a lot of the times are just window dressing for the real problem.

  23. Hi Ray,

I LOVE this brutally honest success tips! A great leader need to be able to use 'tough love' and guide the team members to realize that "There are no valid excuse" as mentioned by you! I have blown my warm market but I chose to expand my knowledge. I am now creating new warm markets – online and offline. I also use challenging questions to trigger my team to ponder. Yes, we are all busy but how important is your dream (describe what it is back to them). Thanks, Ray!

We can ALWAYS share stories about how other people with worse circumstances succeeded too. THe questions are – Why not YOU? Why not NOW?

Thanks, Ray! Awesome coaching! I appreciate you!

  31. Great post Ray. Funny how excuse makers never really achieve much, I know that for a fact because I was stuck in the same rut for some time and it took some serious introspection to get over that… It wasn't serving me in any way

  32. Right on point again…2 weeks into the new year and I'm not even half way near my goal for this month…but reading your blog post is helping me to understand what is holding me back…So tomorrow I'm going to try and set aside the fear and call 10 leads no more excuses…its going to be extremely a challenge but I gotta stop wasting time…I want to go out of 2013 differently then the way I came in…I'm believing in myself…I can do this…Thanks! you are actually helping me to believe I got this!

  37. Wonderfully put! I started out the New Year positive & ready to create a great 2013, but it didn't take long for my positivity to be tested. So few people explain setting your goals as well as you have. They say to set goals, but just leave it at that. or they may suggest long or short term goals. I prefer to say let's set our DREAMS! For that's really what we're doing!
