How To PROPERLY Use
Networking Events For Your
Homebased Business
I talk to people all the time that get excited about their homebased business or Network Marketing business opportunity and they want to share it with as many people as possible. Makes sense right? Well, you may be shooting yourself in the face (yes, face…not foot) if you attempt to utilize networking functions the way most people do. This brief video will keep you from embarrassing yourself and turning potential prospects off and will teach you a powerful way to use networking events.
I bet some of you wish you saw this BEFORE you attended that last event! Well, now you are armed for the next event! These tactics have helped me with listbuilding, relationship building and in building my homebased business and I hope they helped you as well!

This is great advice. I learned something. I haven’t been to many networking events, but that’s what you see. People pitching their business ideas and opportunities. I like that with this technique, you’re the receiver of information and it certainly takes the pressure off! Following up is key!

Some one gave me some great advice like this before I did a monster 17 day fair. I think his name was RAY HIGDON. We already had fliers printed up and put them out. Out of 15-20 thousand fliers 11 people followed up. That’s it ( 11 ). 100 percent of the people that signed up signed up right on the spot at the fair and not from any of the fliers….. One more reason why we should always listen to the experience and knowledge of our up line mentors…. Great video Ray I love ground events and soak in any advice i get in this area.

Very good tip Ray. I have found myself in the past thinking I needed to “contact” people at these events. This idea works much better! Any suggestions on what to tell people that you do if you have a full time job and are network marketing?
Thanks!

I would prospect them as normal. Most do mlm part time at first at least. You dont have to attend business events to build your business

Hi Ray,
“Pressure Free Marketing” as you put it in your comment to LuSundra. Great point and video. It falls inline with your teachings of not becoming addicted to an outcome. Go with an open mind and just collect information. Brilliant!
Thanks Ray, I can’t wait to incorporate this along with all your other great tips!

Been there and done that stuff Ray.
I was certainly “ignorance on fire” brother Ray.
Scary really.
Can you imagime a 6 ft.6 inch muscular guy (me)
who did not smile with no clue at all about ANYTHING
related to sales and success coming at you very intensely?
I saw “the plan 2x..took notes…
showed it to our cat and got busy.
Cat said no.
Now I know I should not be advertising my ignorance
but hey I worked in a telephone switch room
back then.
My leason here is a couple of things.
Do something…which I did.
You don’t have to get it right just get it going.
And work on yourself…always!
I did …a lot.
Many many self help books.
Still reading.
I also am not a natural people person.
I needed to figure that out anddid,
Had to…..I’m from a socialist family.
I was 36 when I saw that I could choose
not to be a socialist.
Now I’m starting a new journey again to build Numis.
At 54 years young.
You are my young upline.
I was not a star in my network then but I did
more than 98%.
I am not a star now…but I know one thing
I WILL UNTIL!
Numis to me may be one of the
most timely oppotunities I’ve ever seen.

Great topic and information Ray.
I have people on my team who try to network the wrong way, and like you said, it NEVER works.
No matter if you are online or offline, networking is all about relationships and you have to ask people about themselves and take a genuine interest in them before you have the collateral to offer them your services and solutions.
Thanks for the great training video.
Make it a great day!

Hey Ray,
Great Stuff!!! We have been wanting to expand our offline marketing locally and have been going to netowrking functions. I must say, it itself is its own ball game. Great way to gain exposure, experience and credibility. Its funny you mention going with empty pockets, we have been debating when to give out our business card.
Talk to you soon!

Instead of handing out my business cards, I could hand out “rookie” cards and since they usually get thrown away the people who saved one could make a killing on ebay.

Ray -
My first visit to your blog but I was impressed. My husband and I are in a network marketing biz and my husband was invited to a networking event this morning. At 6am this morning he discovered he didn’t have any business cards…and for a minute thought about not going.
But, we decided he should go, say he didn’t have any cards and just do as you just advised, collect cards. This is so timely. There was no pressure, he got lots of cards. Now, I’ll tell him your steps (blueprint) to follow up. This was perfect – thanks so much.
Inez
So, we decided he would go

A good friend of mine, by the name of Dave Doerges always said…”Be interested, not interesting” Being interested in what your newfound friend does for a living rather than barfing to him or her what you do pays off big time…I have been getting referrals this way, by following exactly what you said in the video. You hit the nail in the coffin with this video…

Ray,
This is such helpful information. I agree it’s important to get other peoples’ information and not be going there to “get” something.
I love this question you can ask someone that I learned from Bob Burg: “How can I tell if someone I’m talking to is a good referral for you?” It sure does go a long way to building a great relationship with someone.
I’m sure you’ve read it, but Bob Burg’s book, “Endless Referrals” is a classic on how to network at events and have more than enough people to follow up with, similar to what you say in your video.
Love your content, Ray!
Have an awesome weekend!!!

Makes complete sense, collect the information from prospects that you would like to have in you business and then follow up with them.
This is basically the same way professionals conduct business on the internet.
1. You don’t go to a prospects website and plaster your opportunity on their website.
2. You have a lead capture page setup that gives a brief message about yourself and the opportunity. After collecting the visitors information you have the ability to follow up with them.

Thanks for the tip on how to hadle events and how to get in touch with other business prospects. You are absolutely right. People love to talk about themselves and their ideas. I have found that business cards, flyers and other publicity for my business do not give me any good results. Thanks Ray.
