7 Reasons I Love
Work from Home Businesses

When people ask me what I do, I reply that I am a home business consultant and I train people how to generate income from home. They usually respond with something along the lines that they have looked into work from home businesses as they hate their job or wish they had more time, this post is simply 7 reasons that I love working from home.
How I Discovered Work from Home Businesses
It was 2004 and I was working at an insurance company and really didn’t like my job. I liked some of the people I worked with but was pretty much over being stuck in a cubicle (can you imagine me sitting in a cubicle 8 hours a day? I sure can’t anymore).
I would watch the CEO of the company swing by the office in his sandals and Hawaiian shirt and tell everyone good job everyone as he whisked off to the Bahamas or some other exotic location and thought to myself, how the hell do I get that for me? Right around that time a high school buddy of mine introduced me to working for myself from home and I have never turned back.
Seven Reasons I Love Network Marketing Home Businesses
1. Perhaps the most powerful one is if you are involved in one of the work from home businesses that involves residual income, you can create a passive income with so little overhead it is crazy. Whether you like network marketing or not, be smart and understand residual income, it is the ONLY way to go. Trading dollars for hours with no possibility of ever earning income off past work is just stupid when so many options are available to you.
2. My wife and dogs can sleep in. Notice I didn’t include me as I am an early bird and I am up early no matter what. However, I love the fact that my wife does not like mornings so she doesn’t need to see them lol. My motto: “Screw Rush Hour”
3. Not the case with all work from home businesses but with network marketing, your product is lifestyle. It’s not yummy shakes, organic soap, juicy juice or even gold and silver, it’s lifestyle. That being said, if you want to be a good marketer, TRAVEL MORE and share your videos and pictures with people. If you don’t follow, check out what I mean here: Fiji, Vail, New York, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Cancun, Chicago, Bahamas, Washington DC. (By the way, these are just some of the trips from the last three years, I didn’t include the 6 cruises we also won) Also note, this industry is NOT just about making more money, do you think I enjoy the fact that I have spent more time with my loved ones the last three years than ever in my life? Help people see that you CAN have a great lifestyle while still building an income.
4.
Pay for Performance. If you are still in a job, let me ask you this, are you being paid what you are worth? Is the pay really reflective of the workload? I have been in jobs where I worked ten times harder than the people above me in the org chart but was never compensated as such. In network marketing you CAN make more than the person above you (I am one example)
5. Save a boatload in taxes. Whether you are interested in work from home businesses or not, you are insane if you don’t own your own business as you save so much money each month in taxes. Check this out, on average, an employee that does not have any type of business sends about $475 extra to Obama, simply HAVING a home business saves you around $6,000 per year.
6. Choose who you work with. Some may struggle to grasp this but in my home business I CHOOSE who I work with. If I talk to someone on the phone that has unrealistic expectations or is looking for a place to plug in their umbilical cord but not willing to follow directions, I won’t bring them onboard my business. I only work with people truly wanting to change their lives not people setting up a path of blame.
7. Like my friend Burke says, to create a successful work from home business, it’s just copycat marketing. You locate someone who has the lifestyle and level of success you desire and then, just get closer with them, join their team and learn from them. In most industries people will not tell you exactly what they did to become successful as they come from a competitive mindset, in network marketing, we WANT people to know exactly how to succeed.
There you have it, certainly not all my reasons by here are 7. Be sure to share these reasons on social media and with friends that may not understand working from home and maybe it will help them see that work from home businesses are legitimate and can be quite rewarding!

Hi Ray,
Excellent reasons here. Travel is huge to me, it’s why I’m currently on a 16 month trip through Asia.
I never had a passport until 2 years back…heck I was never on a plane until 2 years ago. My first flight was from NY JFK to Bali.(3 flights actually) Couldn’t have pulled that one off working my old security guard job where I had 5 days off a YEAR for my first 4 years.
The freedom is something else, if you work intelligently and persistently to earn the freedom.
Like yourself I can’t imagine myself ever sitting in a cubicle, or rushing around like a clown every weekend to make overtime at the shipping terminal.
So many benefits, and you can experience them all….if you select a winning mentor, fun opportunity and work your tail off to make it happen.
One of my fave parts of working from home is that I can do personal development whenever I want to.
Like you I am an early bird. Gotta be, calling my opt-ins in the States while living in Vietnam. But I get to do mental science first thing in the morning, never worrying about New Jersey rush hours anymore.
I am more likely to run into cows here than heavy traffic
Thanks!

Hi Ray,
Really like this post. I was just having this conversation with a friend of mine a couple of minutes ago who asked me what I do – and he was amazed to know about the opportunity to work from home and live really well.
The funny thing is that the corporate lifestyle makes most people think there are no other options out there to live life in a different way.
Best,
TJ.
P.S. I learned this the hard way – working on Wall Street for the investment banks and putting in 100 hour weeks – to your point that our “time” is valuable – there are so many ways of making money.

Awesome points you make here, Ray. People have been so deceived by corporate jobs to think that there is no other way. Working and making money from home is real and the sooner we realize it the better off we will be. I like how Ryan put it. He is able to travel through Asia for 16 months without worrying about a job or where his next meal will come from. Only because he put the work in the beginning to build a business from home that pays him whether he’s there or not.
Thanks for sharing. It’s really eye opening.

Great post Ray!
If someone is considering a home business they should ask themselves a few ?’s:
Am I happy with the level of success I have achieved?
Do I like a boss dictating my time and the terms of my financial life?
Could I give my significant other and/or kids more with more money?
What would it feel like to stop living for vacation and live as vacation?
How would it feel to own my freedom?

Fun post! So many reasons under the sun!
I also love that it gives more time to take care of yourself- flexibility of day to day lifestyle. Easier to cook a healthy lunch at home and have a more flexible schedule for working out, reading, doctor visits, random errands, and if your a full time parent that list goes on and on (im not a parent but can imagine)…ultimately YOU are in charge of your life and no one else is!

I am available for my nieces and nephews if they're sick so their moms and dads don't have to take off of work and I can take my elderly father for doctors appointments. I don't have to ask for permission to do any of those things.

Hi Ray,
I’m gonna use this information tonite at our sizzle session. These 7 reasons (if not more) are the main reasons why those of us who “get it” have a home based business. Sending extra money not to President Obama but our U.S. government is insane. Saving around $6,000 per year is much more appealing.

HI Ray!! I Love Your List!! MY #1 Reason I Love My Work from Home Businesses is Spending as much time as I possibly can with My Grandson. I did miss out on my children’s childhood but I WILL NOT Miss out on My Grandchildren’s! I am truly Blessed.

Working for San Francisco Superior Court for 13 years, the pace was so fast paced and extremely stressful every hour of every day and was dubbed as a job with golden handcuffs as it paid well, and you were stuck because of the attractive income. It took extreme effort and discipline to muster extra energy to move on. A great learning experience it was, but then your 13 years older too! Cheers to all that choose to work a home based business!

Hi Ray, Great reasons! Thanks for sharing. I am a baby boomer and certainly appreciate the lifestyle factor! Many people have to stay in their 9-9pm job (common in Hong Kong) because they HAVE to! How cool is it that we can set our own hours and choose whom to work with?

Hi Ray,
I worked full time before migrating to Australia. I was a full time housewife for over a decade before I bumped into network marketing (for the products). ‘Pay on performance’ is definitely high on my list. FAR TOO MANY stay-at-home mum’s contribution to the family are not recognised. Network Marketing is an amazing industry for mums to put their talent, passion, time management skills and people skills into great use!
Generally speaking, mothers love helping other mothers. I wonder if there is any other industry that is better designed for mothers than Network Marketing?

I love working from home. Always have, even when I was a stay at home mom years ago. It’s so fun to come home after a stressful day and hop online to do Internet Network Marketing in the comfort of my jammies.
Now, honestly, I work in a cubicle, but that’s only to pay my bills and fund my work from home business. I’m tooling up, like Rob Fore would say.
I have a vision that one day I will create enough income to travel the world with nothing but my laptop and a map. My home is going to be wherever I am at the moment. May take a while, but I keep working toward the work from home dream every day.
Thanks for sharing, Ray. Very convincing article as to why people should be working from home with the goal of creating passive, residual income. I’m sold.

I actually did a video as well awhile ago about my reasons why I love to work from home, and I was comparing myself to a lady that I know who does marketing for car dealerships…. it’s sad that people can’t see a bigger picture, they do the same thing for an employer… Great post as always….
Ray I sent you a message about the not working videos

Hi Ray
Love this post as it has been my soap box for a bit now. I wish I had found the home based biz model when I had my daughter and my step kids were young. Instead I did the long office hours owning a business.
There is a huge price for this – you never ever get the time back with your kids.
